Community Supported Agriculture

If you are interested in supporting local farmers, eating organic, seasonal vegetables/fruits and reducing the use of bags/containers/cartons, join a CSA. My husband and I share a box with another couple and we have enough fresh produce for the week. The cost for us is about $17 per week. There are many convenient drop sites where you can pick up your box every week. Get more information here:

Spring Detox

Today is DAY ONE of our seasonal 5-Day Detox Workshop - Jen Gray and I co-teach it. I am joining the students in the detox this time around. The first day is a juice fast and I am feeling pretty hungry. I just juiced some organic apples, carrots, ginger, kale, basil and celery and that is going to make up most of what I consume today. That and the 64oz of cranberry water. I can tell you that Im not feleing very thirsty. After today the remaining 4 days seem like a cake walk, once we start eating some food again. Although the hard part is really over after today, I know that I will be fantasizing about cookies and chocolate before too long. But, at this point I would be happy eating a carrot.

The Practitioner is a Patient

Today I had my bi-monthly acupuncture treatment. As I was resting on the table with the needles in I realized the importance of being on the receiving end of acupuncture. As a health care provider, I, like many others in these professions can get caught up in helping others get healthy and maintain balance. As I took a moment to rest and reconnect with my breath, I was reminded that taking care of myself helps me take better care of my patients.
